Quote

In the world it is called Tolerance, but in hell it is called Despair, the sin that believes in nothing, cares for nothing, seeks to know nothing, interferes with nothing, enjoys nothing, hates nothing, finds purpose in nothing, lives for nothing, and remains alive because there is nothing for which it will die - Dorothy Sayer

Our Minister

Iain hails from Glasgow where he was educated. Iain worked with the Weir Group after leaving school where he had a successful career in finance. At the age of 23 Iain became a Christian and two years later was accepted as a candidate for the Church of Scotland and began a degree in theology at Glasgow university. From there, his first church was Cranhill in the Greater Easterhouse area of Glasgow, where he was minister from 1984 till 1993. From there he moved on to Larkhall in Lanarkshire from 1993 till 2002. In 2002, Iain and the family moved to Skye, where his father was born – he has real highland blood in him because his mother comes from the Isle of Lewis! Iain came to Dunfermline in 2007.

Iain is married to Linda [they married in 1980] and they have five children – Alistair, Ross, Caitlin, Eilidh and Siona [Eilidh and Siona are both from China, and the family now have very strong links to China]. They are very happily settled in Dunfermline and see their long-term future here.

Our minister loves walking, reading and playing badminton. His one outstanding eccentricity is that he supports Partick Thistle and will be found at Firhill for every home game!

Iain would describe his ministry as evangelical. He wants the congregation of St. Margaret’s to continue to grow into a caring and supportive fellowship. He also wants St. Margaret’s to reach out to its parish and bring people to know the wonderful good news of God’s forgiveness, love and hope through Jesus Christ.
