Church & Parish
|
St Margaret’s, takes its name from the wife of King Malcolm Canmore. It was founded in 1828 and moved to a modern building in 1975. The parish is largely residential with a mix of private and local authority housing. The parish occupies approximately one eighth of Dunfermline. There is some light, mainly service sector industry with a large retail development in Halbeath at the east end of the parish. Within the parish are a Further Education College, Lynebank Hospital and an Abbeyfield House. A Roman Catholic Primary and Secondary school lie within the parish. The church building is multi-functional with partitions to create various areas. We have a loop system and disabled access and services for the disabled have taken place within our premises.  What is a Parish? The vision of the Church of Scotland is to provide a place of worship for everyone in our country. Scotland is divided into over 1000 parishes with a church in each one. The Church of Scotland is unique because it exists not just for those who are members and attend, but for everyone in the parish – we are here for You!!  What is St. Margaret’s Parish? Have a look at the map provided and you will see that St. Margaret’s lies at the very heart of the parish, just behind Touch Primary School. If you live in our parish you are never more than 10 minutes away. We are here for you – never forget that!!   |
